Designed: 1902
This geometric motif pendant was designed for the renovation of the original gymnasium of Wright’s Hillside home school (1902) into a theatre in 1935. It is well designed and reduces glare without glass or fabric shades, but employs wooden boxes and plywood shields to be suspended from the tall ceiling.
This geometric motif pendant was designed for the renovation
of the original gymnasium of Wright’s Hillside home school (1902) into a theatre in 1933.
It is well designed and reduces glare without glass or fabric shades,
but employs wooden boxes and plywood shields to be suspended from the tall ceiling.
The shield is painted blue to resemble glass when the light shines on it while providing a direct and indirect glow.
Since Wright himself was impressed by its pleasant lighting effect,
he later designed the table and floor lamp version of the “TALIESIN®” series.
