Magis Aviva Folding Chair Marc Berthier - Aviva from Magis is a robust and compact foldable chair made of solid beech wood. Aviva was designed by the French architect and designer Marc Beithier. The design from Aviva is functional and it does without any decorations and ornaments.

When the chair is folded, Aviva needs hardly any space and it is easily storable in the smallest corners and gaps. In contrast to other foldable chairs, Aviva is robust and offers stable seating comfort. The simple chair possesses slight dents on the seat and the backrest with which it adapts to the human body.

It was produced in the year 1979 for the first time, the Italian design company Magis re-edited Aviva in the year 2010 for the market. The foldable chair is available in different variants as well as with armrests.

Size Open: H 80 cm, Seat H 46 cm, W 47 cm, Depth 42 cm.

Size Closed: H 87 cm, Depth 5 cm.

His work mainly revolved around industrial product design and was spiced with international flavours. He worked in France with Lexon, in Italy with MAGIS, in Germany with Black Design, in Hong Kong with Hedworth, and in Japan with Dé Signe. He received the following awards: Grand Prix National de la Création Industrielle, René Gabriel Award, Compasso d’Oro ADI 1991 and 1994, Forum Design Awards 1995, 1997, 1998, Design Plus 1999, American Design Award 1999. His creations have been selected for the permanent collections of the Musée National d’Art Moderne, the Arts-Décoratifs Museum and the Fond National d’Art Contemporain in France, and the MoMA in New York. Marc Berthier was “Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres” and also received the “Médaille de l’Art et de l’Industrie”. He was the French representative at the EC for the “Maison Européenne” commission. In 2002 he founded Eliumstudio in Paris, together with his daughter Élise, Pierre Garner and Frédéric Lintz, joined later by Anne Klepper.
