Before the Hoptimists saw the light of day, the Danish wood turner Hans Gustav Ehrenreich was tinkering in his workshop in the house on Århusvej in Stilling. It was the late 1950s, and in the small workshop "Ehrenreichs Trækunst" the imagination was great. Two things were never the same. Small silverfish were intarsia placed in hand-turned bowls and dishes, and unique crafts in woods from all over the world were sold from the workshop.

About the brand

Give a Hoptimist and feel for yourself the joy of giving. In the late 1960s, Gustav Ehrenreich created the joyful movement that has since gained a place in Danish design history. Today there is a happy Hoptimist for every occasion. Therefore, you can always find a Hoptimist who will delight wherever it ends up. That's the whole idea behind the Hoptimists: to spread joy and put smiles on everyone's lips.
Today, when we further develop the design, we do so in the spirit of Ehrenreich. His basic idea was to draw the Hoptimists from a circle and an ellipse, and that idea underlies both the classics and the new generation of characters.
