Originally designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1962,
Flos have re-launched the Seki-Han Floor lamp
Floor lamp emitting direct and indirect light with symmetrical and asymmetrical distribution. Features two vertical ash wood blades joined by chromed metal fittings. Blades rotate around a central tubular light source to allow variable light emission. Raw black iron base separated from the vertical blades by a collar. Custom-developed dimmable linear LED light source. The lamp can also be fitted with standard T8 LED tubes.Designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1963 and reissued in 2025, Seki-Han is testament to his mastery of design and wood-working expertise. The intricate construction draws on naval techniques to shape two wooden blades that now rotate around the light source. Even when almost completely closed, a sliver of light remains visible, creating a highly poetic effect. Named after a traditional Japanese rice dish served on special occasions, Seki-Han is a living presence where the immateriality of light meets the tactility of wood

Tobia Scarpa

He was born in Venice in 1935, where he graduated in Architecture. With his wife Afra Bianchin (1937-2011) he started one of the most successful and well-known professional studios; together they signed many innovative projects on the industrial design scene. In 1958 he experimented in the field of glass with Venini in Murano. In 1960 he began collaborating with Gavina: the “Bastiano” sofa and the metal “Vanessa” bed were his most successful pieces. At Cassina he designed furniture exclusively for the home, such as the "925" armchair, which became part of the collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In 1970 he received the Compasso d'Oro award for the "Soriana" armchair, creating a greater area of interest around his work. For years he was responsible for the image of Benetton shops in Europe and the United States. In the field of architecture, he designed for Benetton the entire production-directional centre and the company's headquarters in Treviso.
