Flos Achille Castiglioni Arco Floor Light

Designed: 1962

The Arco Lamp from Flos is the epitome of a design classic. Designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1962 it remains one of the most enduring pieces of Italian design. Inspired by street lamp design Arco has a beautiful white Carrara marble base with a satin finish stainless steel telescopic stem and polished aluminium adjustable reflector. The arm can be shortened or taken to its maximum length to suit your own application, but a ceiling height of at least 2.5m is required to accommodate the lamp.

The Arco Lamp looks great over a table or seating area and is a true investment piece. Do not be fooled by cheap imitations! This is the real thing!

As well as the original version, in celebration of Arco's 50th Birthday in 2012 Flos launched Arco LED, enhanced with the most advanced and high performance lighting technology. With an 18W LED light source this gives 50 000 hours of extraordinarily uniform and quality lighting which can be dimmed according to your needs.

Born in Milan in 1918, he started work as an architect and designer with his brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo in 1938. One of the great masters of Italian design, he was a founding member of ADI in the fifties. The long list of awards he has received include eight Compassi d'Oro. His activity as a designer is an unmistakable blend of simplicity, irony and fun and it shows his close interest in the way objects are used, in the potential offered by technology and in the use of new materials. He dies in 2002.
