Structural and Minimalist
Utilizing industrial techniques and materials, Kjærholm brought forth a new, streamlined aesthetic. The PK-101, created in 1956, is a perfect embodiment of this approach.
Characterized by a structural and minimalist design, the PK-101 reflects the essence of Poul Kjærholm’s architectural work. It showcases 33 horizontally placed arms, aligned in a staggered vertical sequence, with each arm holding a single candle.
This linear and geometric composition is a testament to Kjærholm’s commitment to clean lines and functional simplicity.
Material: Stainless steel
Size: H 114 cm, W 34.6 cm
Poul Kjærholm
A trained cabinetmaker who completed his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts, Poul Kjærholm had a particular interest in construction materials; especially steel, which he considered a material deserving the artistic respect that was commonly awarded to wood. Poul Kjærholm initiated a collaboration with furniture manufacturer Ejvind Kold Christensen in 1955, and that collaboration continued for the rest of Kjærholm’s life with the two families remaining close to this very day.
